Good afternoon,
Today officers from Hart Neighbourhood Policing Teams paid their respects to retired Sergeant Tom Whitman who passed away last month.
Sergeant Whitman joined Hampshire Constabulary in 1970 and paraded from Fleet, Hartley Wintney, Yateley, Farnborough and Aldershot throughout his career.
He was the Station Sergeant at the “old” Yateley Police Station before the current station was built, and worked alongside PC Paul Knaggs who remains a beat officer here.
Sergeant Whitman retired in 2000 after his thirty years of service, having received his Long Service Medal. He also served in the Royal Navy for 9 years.
Sergeant Whitman was given a Police escort by Sergeant Hill and PC Knaggs through Yateley before being laid to rest. We thank him for his service to Yateley, to his county and his country.
