Appeal issued following public order incident in Aldershot

We are looking to identify a man as part of our enquiries into a public order incident at a church in Aldershot.

The incident is reported to have taken place at the Holy Trinity Church in Victoria Road, just after 7pm on Thursday 5 December, 2024.

It was reported that a group of people interrupted a meeting that was being held at the church, and that an altercation then took place. It was alleged that a number of people were verbally abused and intimidated, and that some assaults took place, including that a man had been headbutted, and that a woman was held by the throat.

No injuries were reported. Officers were called at the time but no arrests were made.

We have been carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the circumstances of what took place.

As a result, four people from the group that interrupted the meeting, and one person from the group that was holding the meeting, were invited to attend police stations last month and have been interviewed under caution.

Enquiries are ongoing to determine who else was there and if any offences were committed.

As part of our enquiries, we have released an image of a man that we are seeking to identify and contact.

If you recognise him, or have any other information that could help our enquiries, then please call 101, quoting the crime reference number 44240530610. Alternatively, you can contact us via our website - https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/

Everyone has a right to free speech and peaceful protest, however when we receive reports of disorder or violence, officers will investigate and take the necessary and proportionate action.

ENDS
