Countywide patrols and vehicle stops to target rural criminals

Police teams across the county took part in a rural crime operation on 6 May, with a focus on offenders operating in rural areas and using major road networks to commit crime.

The Country Watch team – our rural and wildlife crime specialists – based themselves along the M3 near Chilcomb where they worked with roads policing (RPU) and Commercial Vehicle Unit officers, in addition to DVSA enforcement, to conduct checks on HGVs and LGVs, particularly those transporting farming equipment.

Meanwhile, teams in the north, east and west of Hampshire conducted patrols in rural areas, with officers stopping vehicles suspected to be involved in drugs supply and seizing suspected cocaine and illegal vapes containing THC/cannabis.
