Earlier this evening, we issued an appeal for information following a report of a sexual assault on Copnor Road between 6.30pm and 7pm on Wednesday 30 April.

We can now update you, following brilliant work by our Neighbourhood Policing Team, that a 19-year-old man from Portsmouth has tonight (Friday 2 May) been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

He remains in police custody at this time, and we will do our best to continue keeping you all updated as to the progress in our investigation.
