Bike and knife seized following proactive stop near Aldershot by off duty officers

We are appealing for information after officers stopped a motocross rider and seized the bike near Aldershot.

At around 8.30pm on Friday 25 April, two off duty officers, who were heading to work to start their shift, were driving along the A325 towards Aldershot.

They noticed someone wearing a balaclava, who was trying to kick start a motocross bike at the side of the road.

Due to the circumstances, the officers went to speak to the rider. They detained him and searched him, and found a knife and a jerry can in the bag he was carrying.

The rider, a 15-year-old boy from Woking in Surrey, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and use of a motor vehicle without third party insurance.

He was taken to custody, but was later released on police bail with conditions, including not to enter Hampshire, while our enquiries continue.

Officers seized the motocross bike, as well as the knife and the jerry can. We believe the motocross bike had been stolen and are trying to bring it back to its rightful owner.

The bike is described as being a white and red Welsh Pit Bike.

If this is your bike, or if you have any information that could help our enquiries, please contact us on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44250180244.

Alternatively, you can submit information via our website - https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
