A 33-year-old man from Surrey has been charged with going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle.

Ellis Glynne, of Park View, Hersham faced the charge when he appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 25 April.

He was remanded in custody to next appear at the same court on Wednesday (30 April).

The charge follows a stop search of a car in Lyndhurst, at the junction of the A337 and A35, shortly before midnight on Wednesday 23 April.

The vehicle was subsequently seized under Section 135 of the Road Traffic Act.

A 36-year-old man from Feltham, Hounslow was also arrested in connection with the incident.

He was detained on suspicion of going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled drug of Class A.

He has since been released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries.
