Police appeal for witnesses following serious collision in Newport

Officers investigating a serious collision in Newport on Thursday (17 April) are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

We were called at 2.19pm to a report of a collision on St James Street involving a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Corsa.

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

As part of our ongoing enquiries into this incident we would like to hear from anyone with any information who has not yet spoken to police.

The collision took place close to McDonald’s on St James Street. Were you in the area at the time and did you see what happened?

Perhaps you were driving through and have dash cam footage that captured the incident?

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting the reference number 44250167651.

Alternatively, go online and submit information via https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
