Hi Resident Please ‘rate’ this message using the button at the bottom (very quick and simple)
Some updates from your South Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Your Local Priorities as set by the LetsTalk initiative are;
- Target and maintain reductions in Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) - Target and disrupt Drug use and Supply - Target and reduce the impact of the Anti-Social use of Vehicles
You Said – We Did!
Op Spider – So far this month we have summonsed three suspects to Magistrates Court for breach of the Public Space Protection Order in Sandown, issued four ASB Warning Notices and two Community Protection Notices. We have continued to patrol ASB Hot Spots throughout Sandown, Lake, Shanklin and Ventnor and disrupted several groups of young people linked to ASB with follow-up from our partners in Education, Health and Youth Justice. PC Trickey – your ‘Beat Bobby’ for Sandown and Lake has been working tirelessly with our partners to address Derelict Hotels in Sandown and we hope to have some positive updates for you soon.
Op Antidote – We have seen the successful launch of this Operation designed to target and disrupt drug offences. Following on from our Positive Warrant in Shanklin last month we have seen the successful use of Police Stop and Search Powers deployed at key locations. Two young people under 18 will be shortly referred to the Youth Justice Panel for Possession of a Class B Controlled Drug and three more will receive Community Resolutions – all have been referred to partners in Health, Education and Children’s Services for support. A positive Stop and Search also led to the arrest of a 50yr old male from Shanklin who was charged with Theft and will now appear at IW Magistrates Court – stolen goods were recovered to the Victim.
Op Sidlaw – PC Carey – your ‘Beat Bobby’ for Shanklin and Ventnor has been leading our response to your calls to tackle the Anti-Social Use of Vehicles in the Bay. Since our last update we have seen a further eleven drivers prosecuted and many more given roadside education inputs – the offences include Speeding, Dangerous Driving, Unnecessary Noise, No Insurance and No Driving Licence. We have an exciting project around road safety involving our local schools – watch this space!

We will have a Facebook LIVE Beat Surgery this month – keep a look out for the confirmed date!
All the Best
