Good afternoon, Neighbourhood teams continue to target habitual shoplifters and support businesses across the Island affected by retail crime. Following recent efforts, we have some good news to share about a recent suspect who has been sent to prison. Raymond Skelly, aged 45, appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 1 August where he pleaded guilty to the following offences: Theft of £37 worth of alcohol from Sainsbury’s in Newport on 26 June.Theft of £300 worth of food, drink, laundry and electrical items from B&M in Newport on 6 July.Theft of £152 worth of food, drink and clothes from Sainsbury’s in Newport on 6 July.Theft of £158.99 worth of clothing from Sports Direct in Newport on 10 July.Theft of a drill worth £49.99 from B&M in Newport on 30 July.Theft of £274.93 worth of goods from B&M in Newport on 30 July. Skelly, of Culver Parade in Sandown, was subsequently jailed for 20 weeks.
He has also been ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge, and £85 in costs. |
