Appeal for witnesses after man seriously assaulted in Aldershot

Police investigating the serious assault of a man in Aldershot town centre are appealing to the public for witnesses and information.

On Wednesday (15 May) shortly after 7pm we were called to a report of an altercation taking place between two women and a man at the side of the Queen Hotel, with the altercation moving onto Nelson Street a short time later.

Officers attended and a man in his 30s was located with a serious injury to his head. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has been found to have a fractured skull and brain bleed as a result of the incident.

As part of our enquiries we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area between around 6.45pm and 7.20pm and saw what happened. We believe there would have been a number of people nearby at the time of the altercation and assault and would like anyone with any information, mobile phone or dash cam footage to please get in touch.

Throughout the course of our investigation so far we have arrested a 40-year-old man from Aldershot on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and a 42-year-old woman from Aldershot on suspicion of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. Both have been released from police custody on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone who saw what happened or has any information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 44240204059.
