Witness appeal following unauthorised car meet in Basingstoke

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses following reports of anti-social and dangerous driving which has been linked to an unauthorised car meet in Basingstoke.

We were called at 7.42pm on Sunday 18 February to a report of a car meet at the Asda car park in Brighton Hill. Around 60 cars had gathered.

It was reported that some cars were being used in an anti-social manner. Officers attended the scene and the cars dispersed.

Later that evening, we received reports of cars gathering at the Leisure Park and Chineham Shopping Centre. We received reports of dangerous driving at both locations.

Officers launched an investigation and have gathered footage and evidence from both locations and are looking to take action against two drivers.

Since this was reported to us, officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries and are now appealing to the public for help, specifically in relation to the unauthorised car meet at Asda.

Were you in the area at the time? Did you witness any anti-social or dangerous driving? Do you have any dashcam footage or CCTV images that may assist our investigation?

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting the reference number 44240072212.
